We had another checkup at the Shriner's Hospital in Chicago on Nov.8. to get S.K. cleared for her surgery. She was amazing on the plane ride. She slept the whole way up...and was happy and played the whole way home. She did manage to time a stinky diaper for me during one of the plane rides. EW. They should make changing a poop diaper in an airplane bathroom an Olympic Competition! Yikes. We met with her team of doctors, and they couldn't believe how well she is eating and growing. She was such a flirt with all of them. They gave us a wonderful report and say she is developing right on track with most 10 month olds. Seeing the other children there really made us count our many blessings. Most of the other kids waiting to get the palate surgery have already been through numerous procedures and surgeries. S.K. most definitely has the best case scenario if you are going to have a cleft palate. After the surgery she will start Early Intervention speech therapy. I know she will do great..she is such a blessing! We got a call back yesterday with a surgery date: FEB. 7, 2008. (that was her due date). Its good to know we are finally going to move forward with things. I'm nervous more for me than her...i know she is a trooper..but i cant tell you how it's going to break my heart to see her little face swollen and in pain. aghh! i don't want to think of that. I'll just cross that bridge when i get to it...
always busy...
